PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Police have made an arrest in connection with a series of bomb threats that forced guests to evacuate the Pere Marquette Hotel in downtown, the most recent threat happening last weekend.
In a news release Wednesday night, police said that Val C. Burks, 30, was taken into custody without incident on three counts of falsely making a terrorist threat.
The most recent threat at the Pere Marquette happened about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 when the hotel’s guests and staff were evacuated to a secure location. PPD said no suspicious items were found during a check of the main lobby, the large ballroom area, nearby rooms and rest of the hotel.
Peoria Police said they identified Burks as the person responsible for making that threat, and the suspect in two related incidents.
Burks was taken to the Peoria County Jail.
