UPDATED 2:06 P.M.
PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Police responded to a pair of shooting incidents early on New Year’s Day.
PPD says at approximately 12:52 a.m., officers were called to the area of N. Prospect Road and E. Richwoods Boulevard on reports of shots fired.
Police discovered a party where a large group of people had gathered.
Officers learned that a 20-year-old male was taken to a hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
The victim told police he didn’t know the person who shot him outside the party.
The incident remains under investigation.
Then, just before 3:30 a.m., Peoria Police were called to the area of W. Seibold and S. Griswold Streets on another ShotSpotter alert with 19 rounds fired.
On scene, officers heard another six rounds fired.
PPD says 42-year-old Carnell Williams was standing outside a residence, went inside and wouldn’t come out.
Officers eventually entered the home, found Williams and seized a handgun.
Williams was arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Aggravated Discharge and Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon.
