PEORIA, Ill. – The rumors of the demise of Landmark Recreation Center have been greatly exaggerated.
The parent company of the center — Peoria Forrest Hill Development Company — says in a news release that nothing is closing, and the facility remains open.
This, after other more local efforts to find a buyer have so far been unsuccessful.
While not a single media outlet reported the facility would be closing, the owners say if they don’t find a suitable buyer for the property, they will continue to own it, and operations will continue as normal.
PEORIA FORREST HILL DEVELOPMENT COMPANY the parent company of “Landmark Recreation Center” located in Peoria, would like to release the following statement regarding the potential sale of the property in an effort to clarify some errors in perception. While the owners of the property are certainly exploring sale options, they are as committed to the property as they have been for the last 40 years. The ownership takes the process of finding a possible buyer very seriously, and should a buyer come the forward, the owners are fully committed to a seamless sale process, this includes the uninterrupted operations of all facets of the facility. All facilities remain open and operating as usual, including the fitness center, bowling center, new offerings in the cinema, full service at the Bullpen and all scheduling of events. One of the primary considerations of the sale is procuring a buyer that will continue the current offerings of the facility and potentially expand it to grow in the future. If a buyer is not secured, the current owners will continue ownership and operations will continue without pause as they have for decades.” — Peoria Forrest Hill Development Company
