PEORIA, Ill. — With a vote expected by the end of the week on the Inflation Reduction Act, Illinois Congressman Darin LaHood (R-18), will be back in Washington, D.C. soon.
While home in the 18th District, LaHood told WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show”, as he sees it, the reason inflation is currently so high, is because the government spent too much money at the beginning of the pandemic.
“We’re $30 trillion in debt now, and, I don’t think spending more money is a way to do that, I don’t think raising taxes is a way to do that. Now, my colleagues on the other side, the Democrats, have a different view,” LaHood said.
According to LaHood, the Inflation Reduction Act focuses too much on Climate Change, ways to make it easier for people to get electric cars, and funding alternative energy sources…all of which, he said, will create even more debt.
While on “The Greg and Dan Show”, LaHood also touched on the recent FBI raid of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago residence in Florida.
LaHood said the incident is unprecedented and stunning…that a former president, and someone likely to run for president again, would have his home searched that way.
“People do not want a politicized, or weaponized Department of Justice or F-B-I. We saw that with the Russia-Gate…we had a steel dossier that was completely made up and fake, it went to a federal judge, there were search warrants and FISAs done that were inappropriate and targeted Trump at the time, and I think people were really concerned about that,” LaHood said.
According to LaHood, “The American people need transparency, accountability, and to find out what really happened during the raid.”
