PEORIA, Ill. – The first donation of a Peoria ambulance to aid in helping victime of Russia’s continued bombing of Ukraine has made it to the front lines.
The ambulance, filled with supplies donated by AMT and OSF along with their employees, had been used in recent months in the Ukranian capital of Kyiv at a cardiac hospital.
Earlier this month, that changed when the ambulance was reassigned to the Kharkiv area, which remains under constant Russian attack.
O-S-F Vice President of Government Relations Chris Manson, who recently returned from a second trip to Ukraine, told WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show”, the effort has gotten national coverage, and seven ambulances have been donated to the cause so far.
“I’m talking to some providers right now in some East Coast states, so the message is getting out there. Of course if anyone else has an ambulance, if you’re a fire chief, if you work for an ambulance company or whatever, reach out…I can definitely take your ambulance and get it into the fight,” Manson said.
Several more ambulances are headed for Ukraine this week.
“We’ve got four ambulances that going out on ships today (Thursday) or tomorrow (Friday), and then I’ve got another seven or eight that will be ready in August, and they a few more in December…we’re doing pretty good,” Manson said.
