PEKIN, Ill. – A Pekin woman has pleaded guilty to a charge of Involuntary Manslaughter stemming from the death of her infant daughter last year.
Tazewell County Circuit Court records indicate Angel Vanduker, now 20, made the plea on Monday and will be sentenced in late-January.
Vanduker, according to an affidavit, was “frustrated and tired and had attempted to get the baby to lay down with her on the couch” in late-September of 2020.
She allegedly then put a blanket on the baby and held her tightly on her chest until she stopped moving.
The baby died after being taken off life support.
Vanduker reportedly could face as much as fourteen years in prison.
