PEORIA, Ill – (25 News) — Bradley University students joined a group of volunteers to make the Warehouse District a little brighter with a new mural.
Big Picture Peoria unveiled the new “Hello Peoria” mural on Adams Street and MacArthur Highway.
The project was led by painter and Bradley art professor Heather Brammeier. Brammeier said the project is a reminder that art is often something people like to enjoy and celebrate in the River City.
“These paintings respond to the strange architecture of the building, the interesting windows, the doors that are all over the place,” Brammeier said.
“It takes something that maybe was kind of crumbling and falling apart and builds it back up to something that is joyful.”
Brammeier said the project took more than a year to complete and she said it was a alternative teaching method to help students engage with art during the pandemic.
