SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – More of the best Illinois has to offer will be on its way to Louisiana to aid in the recovery and cleanup from Hurricane Ida.
Governor JB Pritzker’s office says thanks to the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System used by firefighters, a 68-member Fire Engine Strike Team will soon deploy to Louisiana on a 17 day mission. They’re expected to aid First Responders.
“These crews will offer support and assistance to Louisiana’s firefighters, especially giving them time to rest, care for their families, and help those in need,” said Governor JB Pritzker, in a news release. “Illinois first responders are well-trained for these types of rescues and will be a valuable resource for Louisiana communities.”
160 National Guardsmen are also deploying to Louisiana at the request of that state’s national guard. 46 members of a state search and rescue team are also in Louisiana.
