PEORIA, Ill. — Bradley University students returned to their classrooms on Wednesday as the second semester began.
Bradley Spokesperson Renee Charles said the university is asking students and staff to help minimize the risk of exposure to COVID-19, as the campus operates under a modified all-campus quarantine.
“It’s a little different the quarantine we did in the fall, because in this instance, our students will be able to class in-person, but other restrictions remain in place,” Charles said.
Charles said Bradley students are being asked to stay on campus, not go home or visit friends in other communities, at least for the first few weeks of the semester.
“Our reasoning for having these restrictions, at least in the beginning, is because we have students returning from various locations around the world,” Charles said.
Socializing is basically off limits for now. No visitors are allowed in the residence halls or in off-campus housing.
If, by the week of February 8, the Bradley campus and the community’s COVID-19 numbers are supportive, the university will loosen restrictions, Charles added.
The university’s COVID-19 testing strategy will remain similar to the one used during the fall semester. BU will administer surveillance testing for students, faculty and staff who will physically be on or near campus during the semester.
Symptomatic students will be able to schedule appointments for COVID testing through Bradley Health Services by calling (309) 677-2700.
Anyone who receives a positive COVID-19 test from an off-campus testing site must report those results to the university by contacting bradleyhealthservicesfsmail.bradley.edu so appropriate notifications can be made to instructors.
