PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Monday announced 730 new cases of COVID-19 in the tri-county area, including 11 deaths.
Nine of the 11 deaths occurred in Peoria County, with the other two occurring in Tazewell County.
The Peoria County deaths were as follows: two males in their 70s, two females in their 80s, two males in their 80s, a female in her 80s who resided at Cornerstone, a male in his 90s who resided at Lutheran Hillside Village and an additional person who had no information provided at the time of the health department’s news release.
In Tazewell County, a male in his 80s and a male in his 60s who resided at Aperion Morton Villa died from complications due to the virus.
Since the pandemic began, the tri-county of Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties has experienced 348 COVID-19 related deaths.
Of the 730 new cases announced Monday in the area; 351 were in Peoria County, 290 were in Tazewell County and 89 were in Woodford County.
The recovered rate, since Friday, is up more than 3% to 72.9%.
The home isolating rate fell 3% and now sits at 25.3%, while the hospitalized rate dropped very slightly and is now at .38%.
According to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), region 2 has been under 10% in rolling-seven day postivity rate for five consecutive days.
A region must be under 12% for only three days to be considered for lessening mitigations by IDPH.
