PEORIA, Ill. — With strict guidelines in place, Bradley University this week will be heading back after a two-week all-student quarantine to in-person instruction.
As of 7 A.M. Wed., Sept. 23, students will be required to wear facial coverings, both indoors and outdoors, on campus and off-campus, at all times, except inside their own sleeping rooms.
Guests will not be allowed inside residence halls or off-campus housing.
Additionally, students will not be permitted to visit off-campus eateries or drinkeries for dine-in purposes.
These guidelines and others will be in place through Nov. 20, the end of the fall semester.
“It gives us a little bit of a breather, so to speak, as we go into October, especially around Halloween which, apparently, is the fourth-busiest bar night in our area,” said Peoria City/County Health Department Administrator Monica Hendrickson.
“Anything to decrease these large gatherings that become super spreader events is going to help us get ahead of this virus here, locally.”
All individuals will be placed into one of three categories: quarantine, isolation, and general population. Only those who are presumed not to have COVID will be placed into the third category, and those students will be the only ones allowed to attend in-person classes.
Students in isolation and quarantine will be mandated to continue virtual learning.
Students in isolation will be asked to go back to their permanent residences for 10 days. If that is not feasible, the university will make alternative arrangements.
University Spokesperson Renee Charles said the institution has designated off-campus isolation spaces.
The isolation will end after those 10 days, provided the student has had no fever for 24 hours without the use of medications.
Quarantined and isolated students also will not be allowed to attend off-campus employment, order food or groceries for pickup or carryout, pick up food from on-campus dining services (it will be delivered to those students), use campus study facilities, or engage in off-campus learning activities.
