PEORIA, Ill. — Time and money are running out for entertainment venues nationwide like the Peoria Civic Center.
Civic Center General Manager Rik Edgar told WMBD’s Greg and Dan Show, the National Independent Venue Association has lobbied Congress for support.
“We have bipartisan support for our Save Our Stages Act, which would give financial support to independent venues to get us through, until we can open back up again,” Edgar said.
The Peoria Civic Center began the year over a half million dollars in the black, to losing over $300,000 by the end of the fiscal year, which ends tomorrow.
“Our building (Peoria Civic Center) will be lit up in red starting at midnight tonight (Monday), and we’re going to leave it up that way for 24 hours, and let folks know it’s a Red Alert,” Edgar said.
The Civic Center is encouraging patrons to voice their support to local representatives. A link can be found HERE.
Edgar says without financial support from the government, the Peoria Civic Center will run out of money within in the next 60 days.
