Police Chief Mike McCoy said one person is in custody.
The WPD originally got a call Monday around 12:30 P.M. regarding a welfare check of a male resident in the apartment complex.
Further information was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
A news conference was scheduled for 10 A.M. Tuesday.

WASHINGTON, Ill. — The Washington Police Department and Illinois State Police were on the scene Monday afternoon of what appeared to be a homicide.
The crime scene was at an apartment complex on the corner of Spruce and Holland. The complex’s address is in the 600 block of E. Holland.
Residents of the apartment complex told WMBD News investigators were knocking on doors, asking for any information they had.
Washington Police Chief Mike McCoy confirmed to WMBD News the incident at hand was being investigated as a homicide.
