CHICAGO, Ill. — Gov. J.B. Pritzker makes a call to front line workers to extend the use of Personal Protective Equipment stock.
Shipments of N-95 masks can be sent to the Waukegan facility for decontamination for free. The masks can be cleaned up to 20 times to be reused.
Pritzker said this week is also Teacher Appreciation Week. He said he is very grateful for teachers during this time.
“A few kind words goes an awfully long way,” Pritzker said.
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 2,341 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the state’s total to 63,840.
Illinois’ also saw 46 more deaths, bringing the total to 2,662.
With East Peoria in phase one of reopening businesses, Pritzker said there is a risk of more citizens getting sick.
“I think that they’re running the risk that they’re going to infect people who work there, infect people who patronize their stores,” Pritzker said.
There was also a concern with insurance for the non-essential businesses opening up.
“You may have business insurance but you will be subject to liability because it would not surprise me if insurance companies are found to not be required to cover you when you are defying essentially a state law or a state executive order,” Pritzker said.
