PEORIA, Ill. – Students at Bradley University are helping to raise awareness about an illness that, more often than not, people may not know someone is dealing with.
Students and others dealt with rain Saturday to take part in a walk for the National Eating Disorders Association.
“This is one of those unseen, unheard of illnesses that can go unnoticed by a lot of people,” said Hanne Dahl, student organizer, to 25 News.
An estimated 29 million people nationwide suffer from eating disorders.
“Just recognizing that this is a problem that deserves your attention is really important and I hope that that is what people take away from this,” Dahl said.
More than $2,500 raised from the walk will go to the association to be used for advocacy, research, and other means.
