PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria’s recent homicide victim has been identified as 30-year-old Ryan William Greenwood.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said an autopsy was performed Thursday morning.
“Which took an extensive amount of time because of the injuries that he suffered. What we discovered from that is that he was shot multiple times in the upper and low part of his body” Harwood said.
Harwood said Greenwood likely died instantly.
Peoria Police responded Wednesday night at 11:26 to the 1700 block of N. Bigelow for a ShotSpotter alert of five rounds fired, along with multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a shooting.
When officers arrived, they located Greenwood with apparent gunshot wounds to the chest. He was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
“Despite the aggressive resuscitate efforts from the EMS and hospital staff he was pronounced deceased,” Harwood said.
There is no suspect information at this time.
The incident remains under investigation.
