Eight Peoria Public Schools students were injured during a bus incident.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Big Hollow Road and Partridge Way, just south of War Memorial Drive.

District officials at the scene reported a vehicle pulled in front of the bus near the intersection. The driver of the bus slammed on the brakes to avoid an accident, jarring the students inside. There was no contact between the two vehicles. Parents were notified of the accident.

There were approximately 30 students on the bus. Eight were transported from the scene by ambulance to an area hospital with what were described as minor injuries. The rest of the students were either picked up by their parents or transferred to another bus and sent home.
