Pekin Man Allegedly Attacks Officers

A Pekin man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly showing up drunk at the Pekin Police Station.

Officers say Jonathan Horner, 44, tried to turn himself in for a crime he was not wanted for. They say he came into the police station drinking a beer, and had an open can of beer with him. Officers told Horner he would would be ticketed for open carry of alcohol, that is when he became confrontational.

Pekin Police say he balled his fist, and started yelling at an officer. The officer handcuffed Horner with the help of another officer.

Once in the handcuffs, Horner resisted efforts by officers to get him in the back of a patrol car. Horner then kicked the officers. They had to use pepper spray to get Horner inside the car.

Horner requested to go to the hospital, and while there began yelling at hospital staff and fighting with police. Horner refused treatment and was carried out out of the hospital as he tried to bite the officers.

Horner was arrested and taken to the Tazewell County Jail.
