Music Mondays With Marc
It was awesome being on the air today with Greg and Dan sharing some new music that really has me in a good place as we enter the Summer of 2018.
First up is The Record Company, a three piece out of Los Angeles, California. Their guitarist and lead singer Chris Vos is originally from a small farm community outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their debut album “Give It Back To You” was nominated for a Grammy Award. They really modernized American Blues with out straying far from those deep roots of Blues forefathers. This Friday, the second album will be released called All of This Life. Here’s the video to one of the songs from the album
Life To Fix
Leon Bridges is a gospel and soul singer out of Fort Worth Texas. Word was he was a dishwasher when he was discovered and teamed up with members of Dallas Indie Rockers White Denim. Harkening back to the sounds of the late Sam Cooke, Leon brings a youthful modern take to that rhythm and blues. He released his second album last month on May 4th.
Bad Bad News
Weezer have been Alternative music faves since the mid 90’s for their quirky pop laden hits like Undone (The Sweater Song), Buddy Holly, Beverly Hills and others recently released a cover of the Toto anthem “Africa”. It all came about last December when a 14 year old girl set up a campaign to get the band to cover the song. She set up a twitter account and worked social media to petition the band to cover the song. Well, the band did respond and ended up faking her out with a cover version of Toto’s Rosanna but a few days later released the real thing and the world absolutely adores it. Weezer plays in Tinley Park on July 7
