Lawmakers Delay Fantasy Sports Bill

(AP) – A measure to legalize daily fantasy sports betting in Illinois is being delayed as lawmakers continue working on crafting the proposal.

The bill is among dozens proposals that lawmakers are trying to get out of committees before a Friday deadline. But Democratic state Rep. Michael Zalewski asked for an extension Wednesday to hear the bill later.

Illinois is among several states with pending legislation this year on whether to regulate daily fantasy sports betting.

Also Wednesday, Democrats plan to introduce an overhaul to how the state funds public schools. The proposal would gradually shift money from wealthier districts to poorer districts.
