Interim Administrator Named At Health Department

The Peoria City/County Health Department is currently under interim leadership.

The Peoria County Board of Health accepted the resignation of Gene Huber as administrator of the Peoria City/County Health Department during a special meeting Tuesday. Huber’s resignation was effective Feb. 24.

The Board of Health then appointed Nora Sullivan as interim administrator.

“The Board of Health has created a committee to manage the public health administrator recruitment efforts,” said Board of Health President Jennifer Groves-Allison. “During this process, we have a very experienced management team and staff who will continue their good work to improve community health.”

Sullivan is a past president of the Board of Health who as worked at American Red Cross Biomedical Services and as a nursing instructor at Methodist College.

“We are grateful to Gene Huber for her leadership through a challenging financial government climate,” Groves-Allison said. “Under her administration, the Peoria City/County Health Department maintained the delivery of critical public health services affected by state and local funding issues while initiating a strategic planning process to position the Health Department for future issues. We thank her for her years of service and wish her well.”
