High Levels Of Lead Found In Local School

A mandatory test at Morton District 709 identified areas of high lead in water. But on its website, the district notes none were in sinks or where food is prepared.

No drinking fountains were affected.

In addition, any building that had a finding greater than 5 ppb has individually notified parents in writing.

All affected areas will be mitigated and retested. In a statement, Morton District 709 says it “remains committed to protecting student health and will continue to take all actions necessary to do so.”
