PEORIA, Ill. — We’ll continue to see Bradley University students moving back in through this week, but it’s a relief for many of the first year students, who accomplished their move-in, dodging the rain on Saturday.
“What we like to do, especially with our new students, is let them come and get settled before the ‘mass humanity’ shows up to some extent and a lot of this is to help them get acclimated early on”, said Bradley University President Stephen Standiford while speaking to 25 News Saturday.
In all, roughly 1,000 arriving freshman got into their new dorms and bid fond farewells to friends and family.
They were welcomed by school staff and roughly 400 volunteers who helped with the heavy lifting.
“For all of us to come out here and welcome all of the first years to our campus, it quite literally is one of my favorite days and I’m glad to be here”, said Bradley’s Student Body President David Daye, also speaking with 25 News.
At the same time, we expect to see more move-ins from upperclassmen throughout the week.
Standiford says he expects to see more than 4,000 students moved in by the end of the week.
