PEORIA, Ill. — Eight Peoria Public Schools students were surprised on Tuesday with a free ride to Bradley University next year through the Hometown Scholars program.
The program was first announced in July 2020. The goal is to enhance the partnership between Bradley University and PPS while helping local students achieve their academic goals in their hometown.
Bradley President Stephen Standifird and Bradley Mascot KaBoom! surprised each student with the announcements, which included two students each from Manual, Quest Academy, Peoria High and Richwoods High Schools.
Bradley worked closely with Peoria Public Schools and the recipients’ parents to organize the award presentations.
The Hometown Scholars recipients include:
Diego Mcneeley Ortega – Manual – Art (Studio) – Drawing
Estela Quintero – Manual – Elementary Education with ESL endorsement
Shenise Bramley – Quest – Psychology
Jeremiah Mudd – Quest – Middle School Education – English/Language Arts with ESL endorsement
Tyson Heerman – Peoria High – Pre Health Science
David Bond I – Peoria High – Business Management and Leadership
Brianna Hill – Richwoods – Engineering Undecided
Daniela Gomez Flores – Richwoods – Journalism
