PEORIA, Ill. — While the Peoria-Tazewell-Woodford tri-county region’s positive coronavirus case count rose Wednesday to 250, the recovery rate since testing began hit the 80% mark.
12% of cases were considered to be in home isolation, while 3% were hospitalized.
Speaking of hospital data, said Peoria City/County Health Administrator Monica Hendrickson, local ICU bed use continued the downward trend.
Seven beds were in use, with three suspected cases and four confirmed. Non-ICU bed use was at 22.
City/County Health Department Dental Director Dr. Susan Bishop announced in addition to emergency cases, patients who are considered to be near-emergency status can also be seen.
“So, at this point in time, to say any of the dentists are back to routine care would not be true,” she said.
She said one of the things holding up routine dental care is lack of PPE.
“Our state dental society is working diligently to see what we can do to be able to see our patients, and I do have to say overall health is contingent upon oral health, and for a lot of people not seeing them in the next couple weeks could mean some of their systemic health is in jeopardy, so we want to be able to get to those people.”
