EUREKA, Ill. – A 9-year-old is being charged with murder months after a mobile home fire killed five people near Goodfield.
According to Woodford County State’s Attorney Greg Minger, along with the five counts of first degree murder, the child is also charged with two counts of arson and one count of aggravated arson.
Due to the age, the identity of the child is not being released.
On April 6, just after 11:00 p.m., firefighters arrived to a residence at the Timberland Mobile Home Park, finding the residence fully engulfed in flames.
The Woodford County coroner identified the victims of the blaze as 1-year-old Ariel Wall, 2-year-olds Rose Alwood and Damien Wall, 34-year-old Jason Wall and 69-year-old Kathryn Murray. Coroner Tim Ruestman says he pronounced them dead at 11:55 p.m.
Two others were treated and released from a Peoria hospital. Ruestman says all seven people were related.
