Update: Victim Of Overnight Shooting In Peoria Identified

Peoria Police are investigating a third homicide in a week’s time.

Officers were called to an apartment building at 1818 North Bigelow Street just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday on reports of a shooting.

When they arrived, police found 25-year-old Ira Montford, who lived in the complex, had been shot in the chest.

Police say Montford was shot in the entrance of the apartment complex, and was able to make it back to his apartment to tell family members he had been shot.

Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says Montford was taken to OSF St. Francis Medical Center by  private vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the hospital just before 2:00 a.m.

Peoria Police do not have any suspects at this time.

26-year-old Zacchaeus Davis was killed in a home near North Indiana Avenue and East Kansas Street on Sunday morning. 25-year-old Nikko Smith was killed in a home on West Kettelle Street last Tuesday.
