Two Shot During Birthday Party

A birthday party in north Peoria reportedly turned violent.

Peoria police were called to a duplex in the 6900 block of North University St., near Teton Drive, around 1:15 a.m. Saturday on a report of shots fired.

Two people reportedly arrived at UnityPoint Health-Methodist between 1:15 and 1:30 a.m. The victims’ names and conditions are not known, but police tell the Journal Star their injuries were not life-threatening.

Police say it appears the shootings were the result of an argument.

Officers found two bullet holes in the front door of the duplex and several shell casings outside the door. Damage was seen inside to a sofa and a wall and a car outside had also been hit.
