Two Arrests Follow Hanna City Shootings

Peoria County deputies have arrested two men in connection with the alleged shootings of three people in Peoria County.

Deputies responded to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center at 12:36 a.m. Tuesday on a report of two shooting victims. A third shooting victim was reported at UnityPoint Health-Proctor. None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.

While questioning the victims and witnesses, deputies were told of a large gathering of 30-to-50 people at a location in the 2800 block of Murphy Road in rural Hanna City. Those attending ranged in age from 17-to-23 and were from high schools in Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford Counties.

Peoria County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Sheriff’s Investigative Division arrived and found evidence of a shooting along with drug and alcohol use. A weapon was also recovered.

Arrested were Ryan Miller, 26, (pictured left) and Steve Covington, 19.

Miller is charged with unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated discharge of a firearm, no valid FOID card and mob action. Covington is charged with mob action.

The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
