Three Arrested For Alleged Homicide

Peoria police have arrested three suspects in connection with the city’s third homicide of the year.

Police arrested the trio between 9:30 a.m. and 11:37 a.m. Tuesday after they were identified as suspects.

Gemia Shird, 21, (pictured left), Michael Howard, 27, (pictured right) and Samantha Gordon, 20, have each been charged with first degree murder and armed robbery. All three were transported to the Peoria County Jail.

Peoria police responded to a call of a shooting around 12:53 a.m. Tuesday at a residence in the 1400 block of South Stanley Street. A male shooting victim was discovered inside the residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Peoria County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Garrison Collins, 63. Preliminary autopsy results revealed Collins died of a single gunshot wound to the upper body region in the area of his neck.

No other injuries were discovered.

It is unknown what led to the shooting.
