State Lawmakers React To Budget Address

State lawmakers are reacting to Governor Bruce Rauner’s budget address.

Senator Chuck Weaver (R-37) didn’t make any major remarks on the speech. But he did comment on workers compensation.

“Worker’s comp is being touched upon, but it’s probably not far enough yet,” Weaver said. “Also understand that we just need job creation to make our state healthy again.”

Weaver acknowledged that partisanship is still an issue, but credited state democrats for supporting reform.

State Representative Ryan Spain (R-73) agrees that any tax increase must accompanied by reforms. He says taxes without reform will drive more people out of Illinois.

He points to the House as lacking the bipartisanship of the senate. He believes voters want change, but the state needs the “political will” to fix the problem.
