The suspect in a weekend bank robbery in Peoria has been arrested.
Peoria Police say Michael Dawson, 44, was arrested without incident around 2 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of S. Western Avenue.
Members of the Peoria Police Target Offender Unit in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force developed information on Dawson’s whereabouts. Peoria police had considered Dawson to be armed and dangerous, but report Dawson was arrested without incident.
Dawson is in the Peoria County Jail charged with aggravated robbery and financial institution robbery.
Police say Dawson allegedly entered First Mid-Illinois Bank and Trust, 3037 N. Sterling Ave., around 10:40 a.m. Saturday. He reportedly handed a teller a note demanding money.
The note indicated Dawson was armed. After the robbery, Dawson fled the scene on a bicycle.
