PEORIA, Ill. — Bring us your old tires.
Peoria’s “Tireless Project” was started four years ago as a way to solve the issue of illegally dumped and abandoned tires in the community.
The Project’s James Kosner expects a large crowd this Saturday (6/27), since it’s the first collection of the year due to COVID-19.
“You are allowed 10 tires free of charge, and any tire over 10 is a dollar per tire. We ask that people stay in their vehicles, we will come to you for contactless collection,” Kosner said.
The “Tireless Project” is scheduled from 9-11 a.m., but Kosner suggests residents get there early.
Volunteers will be at JIMAX, at 2000 W. Clark Street.
“I’m sure we’re going to fill up pretty early this time, with the amount of phone calls I’ve been getting about it, since we haven’t been able to do any this year. But, once we hit about 1,000 to 1,100 tires in the trailer, we will be done,” Kosner said.
The “Tireless Project” will continue the last Saturday of the month through October. For more information, click HERE.
