Peoria Councilman Fined

Fifth District Peoria City Council member Casey Johnson has been fined $6,300 by the State Board of Elections.

Johnson’s campaign committee has also been terminated.

The Board of Elections claims Johnson has not filed required quarterly campaign disclosure reports since April 2015.

Johnson told the Journal Star he did not know the reports were required quarterly.

Johnson says he still intends to seek re-election next spring and he will work with the state to get his campaign committee back to active status.

The next City Council election will be April 4.
