Peoria Apartment Fire Displaces Resident

Peoria firefighters were called to a working apartment fire at 609 W. Hillyer just before 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, finding heavy smoke coming from a kitchen window on the third floor of the apartment building.

Crews were able to put out the fire quickly.

The Red Cross was called in to assist the occupant with clothing and lodging.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

No injuries were reported.
