City Holds Public Budget Forums

Looming deficits are again facing the 2011 Peoria city budget.  The city council will soon tackle a $10 million dollar hole in the next annual operating plan.  Constituents will get the opportunity to weigh in with ideas over the next three weeks.

Five budget open houses have been scheduled.  The initial one is Saturday morning at Northwoods Mall.  It begins at 1000am and lasts until 200pm.  Councilman Eric Turner is hosting the first one.  City staff will also be present to provide information.  Mayor Jim Ardis says similar forums in the past have helped.

The next four gatherings happen between August 5th and 19th.  The locations include Lakeview Museum, Knights of Columbus, Neighborhood House and Peoria NEXT Innovation Center.
