An advocate for children and an Emmy awarding winning address will speak in Peoria next January. Cicely Tyson has been announced as the keynote Speaker at the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Luncheon next January 17th.
Tyson won multiple acting awards for roles in multiple television shows and films and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She also sets aside one month each year to go to schools and talk to children.
She is a former Ambassador for UNICEF and is instrumental in the success of both the National Museum of African History and Culture and the Cicely Tyson School for the Performing and Fine Arts.
