Schock against Medicaid enhancements in healthcare bill

A Republican U.S. lawmaker from Peoria says with a few changes the Healthcare bill expected for a House vote this week would get bi-partisan support.

18th District Congressman Aaron Schock says the Medicaid changes in the bill will hurt already struggling states such as Illinois. Schock says a study by the Heritage Foundation shows Illinois would pay $1.89 billion for Medicaid from 2014 to 2019.

He says that trickles down to everyone. Schock says private companies are saying with an increase in people on Medicaid they could no longer afford to offer private insurance because of the increase in rates.

Schock says that is the biggest problem with the bill and if it and some other extras were removed it would easily pass this week.
