An update on the transition of students and staff from the soon to be closed Woodruff High School to the remaining high schools in Peoria is presented to the District 150 school board. Consultant Jeanne Williamson members of her transition committee have been meeting with the Illinois High School Association to settle academic eligibility concerns.
"We are in the process of working through all of our questions with the IHSA," says Williamson. "But, simply put, if the students go to their newly assigned schools in their attendance area there will not be an eligibility wait period at all."
Willamson said her safety committee is making sure security concerns are being addressed by additions and renovations planned at Peoria High School.
Williamson says nearly 1,000 letters were sent to the parents of this year's 8th through 11th graders to tell them what high school their student would be attending next school year.
High school registration is going on now and Williamson says when that's done staffing levels at the remaining three high schools can be determined.
Williamson says there are plans for Woodruff upperclassmen to visit and tour their receiving schools this spring during a school day.
