A suspect has been charged in the death of another man early last month. Peoria Police arrested Robert Buford in connection with the incident. On November 4th, Yayba Mahmoud Abu Qulbain was shot in the 500 block of East Republic. Qulbain later died from his injuries. Heavy smoke and fire were seen coming from the unattached garage at 2111 West Ann St. when fire crews arrived about 9:20 Monday night. The statue of Ernie Banks is now in much better shape to play two. The 300 pound statue normally placed outside Wrigley Field was on the campus of Bradley University to get a makeover. Sculptor Lou Cella noticed the three year old bronze statue was turning green and asked the Cubs if it could be fixed.

Nearly all of the corn and soybeans have been harvested in Central Illinois. The Illinois Department of Agriculture reports 99-percent of soybeans and 98-percent of corn have been taken out of area fields. Man suffers head injury during home invasion

A home invasion late Thursday night left the occupant of the home with a head injury. Peoria Police say a suspect broke into a residence in the 4900 block of Bevolon about 9:30pm and assaulted a man who lived there. The resident was either hit in the head or struck in the head with an object. He had to be transported to a local hospital for treatment. No suspects are in custody.

Peoria Police are investing an overnight shooting at an East Bluff residence. A man was shot in the upper chest at a home in the 500 block of Republic. Officers say he then drove to the intersection of Republic and Wisconsin and flagged down help about 1:45am. The extent of his injuries are not known. The shooting is under investigation.
