Residents in Morton are mourning the loss of a tennis coach and teacher.
Joal Stanfield, 34, died at a Peoria hospital Wednesday evening.
The Morton High School boys' tennis coach and Lincoln Elementary School third-grade teacher was rushed to the hospital last Saturday after suffering a major medical trauma. He had been in intensive care since then.
Stanfield is described by friends and loved ones as a beloved husband, father, teacher and coach, whose death is a huge loss to the community.
He is survived by his wife, Kiyle, and their three young children.
