A Scare In The Sky Over Peoria

A United Express flight from St. Louis to Chicago made an emergency landing in Peoria Friday. United Flight 3642 made the unscheduled stop around Noon.

"The airplane had a loss in cabin pressure so they made an emergency landing here in Peoria," Peoria International Airport Director Gene Olson tells 1470 & 100.3 WMBD.

"The initial report we got was smoke in the cabin," Olson says, "so they were concerned there may have been something more serious."

Olson says more serious problems were not discovered and the plane was restarted and moved off the runway after the 68 people on board deplaned.

A second plane was sent to Peoria to send the passengers on their way to Chicago. The second plane departed around 3:00 p.m. Friday.
