A Peoria woman says she was attacked as a form of retaliation for her cooperation with law enforcement.
According to a police report, six women forced their way inside the victim's apartment at Taft Homes early Sunday morning. One threatened the 22-year-old woman with a knife, then all of them kicked and punched her repeatedly. A friend of the victim in the home was also choked by one of the assailants.
The victim tells police her attackers went after her because she was helping the Peoria County State's Attorney's Office with a case. Police are still tracking down suspects.
Meanwhile, the State's Attorney's Office is helping the victim find a new place to live.
