The District 150 school board is ready to start interviewing prospective board members.
There are eight applicants for the District 3 seat vacated July 1 when newly elected Sue Wolstenholm resigned after she was sworn in. The board will meet in executive session beginning at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday to hold separate interviews with former Morton Dist. 709 school board member Nancy Overcash, Melvin McCaw, Jeff Lickiss and former Dist. 150 board member Laura Petelle.
Petelle lost her bid for re-election to Wolstenholm in the March primary. The group Change150 used the controversy over ISAT testing irregularities at Charter Oak School to urge Petelle's ouster to send a message, even though Wolstenholm withdrew from the race. Wolstenholm, however, withdrew too late to get her name off the ballot.
The remaining four applicants, including Change150-endorsed Dan Adler, will be interviewed beginning at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday along with Jon Bateman, Phil Romanis and CSE Software, Inc. Vice-President Lara Aaron.
The board could begin its deliberations toward filling the vacancy after its final interview Wednesday, or during an executive session already scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Thursday.
