Rauner Flip-Flops On Minimum Wage

(AP) Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner says he supports letting voters weigh in on whether Illinois' minimum wage should be increased.

Rauner says he's "supportive" of a nonbinding question Democratic lawmakers put on the November ballot. It asks if the wage should rise from $8.25 to $10 per hour by 2015.

Rauner's position on the minimum wage has changed during the campaign.  Last year the Winnetka businessman said he was "adamantly, adamantly" opposed to an increase. He said it should be lowered to the national rate of $7.25.

Rauner later said that comment was "a mistake." He now says he could support an increase if the national rate also is raised and it's tied to other pro-business reforms.

Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn supports the increase.
