June Rainfall Nearing Record Amount

Peoria has already received more than twice its normal amount of rainfall for the month of June.

The National Weather Service says 7.8 inches of rain has been measured in Peoria so far this month, making it the 6th wettest June on record.

Normal rainfall for June in Peoria is 3.53 inches.

The wettest June was in 1974 with 11.69 inches.

The Illinois River in Peoria continues to rise with recent rainfall.

The river measured 15.9 feet as of 6:45 a.m. Wednesday. The river is now forecasted to crest at 17 feet Monday afternoon.

Flood stage in Peoria is 18 feet.
