(AP) - A funeral will be held Monday for an Illinois soldier who was one of five American service members killed in Afghanistan this month by a U.S. airstrike called in to help defend against a Taliban ambush.
Army Pfc. Aaron Toppen was from Mokena, located south of Chicago. The 19-year-old was killed June 9 while on patrol in southern Afghanistan.
Funeral services will be held at Parkview Christian Church in the Chicago suburb of Orland Park.
Toppen's body was to arrive at Midway International Airport on Saturday and a procession was planned to accompany his remains to Mokena.
Toppen graduated from Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort.
He was the youngest of three children. He deployed to Afghanistan in March.
