The owners of an East Peoria bar that became the site of a deadly shooting say they plan to reopen the business as soon as possible.
The following statement appeared on 5th Quarter Sports Bar and Pizzeria’s Facebook page late Monday afternoon:
“All of us at The 5th Quarter Sports Bar and Pizzeria give our heartfelt and deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims of Saturday night’s shooting. What was supposed to be a happy night for all, turned tragic within seconds. To all of our customers and employees that witnessed this tragedy, we pray that all of you are comforted by your loved ones, as this is certainly not an event easily forgotten. To everyone in our community, we hope you reach out to others who need help during this time and pray for comfort to all involved. We plan to reopen soon and hope to continue to be a positive part of this community. We have been in business 2 years thanks to the support of our local community and hope that everyone will feel safe in our establishment once again. We once again express our heartfelt sympathy and extend our deepest condolences to the families who were affected by this incident. We will continue to fully cooperate with all law enforcement agencies while they are still investigating.”
Police say Jason Moore murdered his ex-wife, Lori Moore, and her boyfriend, Lance Griffel at the crowded bar on Saturday night. Moore shot both of the victims in the head before an off-duty law enforcement officer took him down. Witnesses and friends say Moore’s actions may have been connected to an ongoing child custody issue.
