Tax Exemption May Benefit Tornado Victims

A tax exemption passed by state lawmakers after deadly tornadoes in Harrisburg in 2012, may now benefit victims of the November 17th tornadoes in Central Illinois.

Homeowners must meet certain rebuilding requirements to qualify for the tax break.

The exemption would cover any increase in property tax for the lifetime of ownership of the home.
