House Fire In East Peoria

One man suffers minor burns to his hands during a house fire in East Peoria.

Firefighters were called to 106 Edgewood Drive just after 7:00 a.m. Wednesday.

"When I got here first there was fire coming out of two windows and heavy smoke throughout the house," says East Peoria Fire Chief Bill Darin. "We made a quick attack."

"It was a very straight forward, quick attack, quick knockdown. Textbook," Darin said.

Darin says a man was sleeping on a mattress in a room being remodeled and discovered the fire. That man suffered minor burns to his hands but refused treatment and did not go to a hospital.

Darin says there were no other injuries. He says a family of four and the family dog were outside the house when he arrived.

"That's the main thing," Darin says.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
